Zale Orbin was the daughter of the Antarian Ranger Kenth Orbin. Born at the close of the Clone Wars, Zale was nearly orphaned when Clone troops attacked her father while he was visiting his family with the Jedi Knight he was working with, Rix Iblek. Iblek and Kenth’s wife were killed in the attack and Kenth was severely wounded. He was able to reach safety with his infant daughter, however.
Zale grew up learning survival traits and guerilla-style combat techniques from a very early age. Even given a solitary life, isolated from the galaxy, Zale developed a strong compassion for helping those in pain. Seeing this, her father didn’t stiffle her, instead encouraging her. Drawing on the traditions of the Antarian Rangers, Kenth trained Zale to be an unofficial Ranger, specializing as a combat medic.
Zale had a natural curiosity towards others from across the galaxy. She especially loved hearing her father tell tales of the heroic Jedi and combating evil. While she could get into trouble by being overtly curious, Zale was strong and determined, bordering on stubborn, which helped her fight her way out of many bad situations. She grew to loathe and hate the Empire and all it stood for.
At the beginning of 2 ABY, Zale accompanied her father into Hutt Space on a routine supply run. While there, she happened to overhear a conversation about an Antrixian Lord, who was a possible Jedi, marshalling forces to rally against the Empire. Becoming very excited and wanting to see a living legend, Zale convinced her father to track down this Lord and find out if the rumors were true.
During their search, Zale and her father encountered the refugee ship known as the Knight Watch, commanded by Raynen Zurlo. Joining with Zurlo and his crew, the Orbins continued their search for the mysterious Force-user. In the latter part of 3 ABY, the Knight Watch journeyed to Eidolon Station. On the station, Zale found comradie with the forming Regulator Squadron, along with the potential job of working in the infirmary on the station.
