The Nagai, (pronounced /nɑ'gɑ.i/) also called the N'Gai and the Knives, were a species from the satellite galaxy Firefist who invaded the wider galaxy in 4 ABY.
Appearance and Biology[]
Nagai are tall and very thin with straight black hair and pale white skin. Many Nagai wear their hair in a variety of elaborate modes including the use of braids and mohawks. Since some races compare their appearance to that of specters, they take advantage of it and exploit it, letting others underestimate them until it is too late.
Temperament[]
Only two elements affect a Nagai's temperament: the demands of honor and the fear of the Tofs, a race of beings that have oppressed them for many years. To a Nagai, honor is the highest ideal and most influential factor in daily life. At the same time, they let nothing stand in the way of freedom from the hardships felt from the Tofs.
History and Culture[]
The Tofs first visited the Nagai homeworld of Nagi about three centuries before the Battle of Yavin during the height of Nagai civilization, after discovering the Nagai's first interplanetary probe and tracing it back to their homeworld. They immediately attacked and enslaved much of their population. But, the Tofs realized that the Nagai are natural warriors and found that they strongly resisted and rebelled against their rule for 300 years. After the Rebellion defeated the Empire, the Nagai allied themselves with the Imperial remnants and fought against the forces of the newly-established Alliance of Free Worlds. At first, the fight went badly for the Alliance, until the Tofs arrived and began fighting against the Nagai forces. The Nagai reluctantly decided to ally themselves with the Alliance to fight their common foe and began to push back their "Old Enemy."
Nagai in the Galaxy[]
Prior to the Battle of Yavin, Nagai in the galaxy, outside of the Firefist satellite galaxy, are very rare and should be considered unique. It is possible that there may be a stray Nagai or two plying the star lanes as adventurers. Since the fall of the Tofs, the presence of Nagai across the galaxy has increased. Many Nagai that stayed behind after the war began searching for a new homeworld.

Soothing Voice: Nagai have a voice that most sentient species find pleasant. This ability grants a +1D bonus to any Persuasion checks.
Story Factors:
Blades: Bladed weapons are the traditional sidearm of the Nagai. All Nagai must spend at least 1D in melee combat during character creation.
Calm Demeanor: Nagai rarely lose their temper, since they see this as a sign of weakness. As a matter of fact, one of the most disturbing aspects of a Nagai is that they always seem to be in control. It is believed that they do this intentionally to unnerve others.
