Mer'Karl'Sar was a male Coynite from Coyn who was employed by Moraine Sandoval at her small weapons shop on the planet. Having been bested by Moraine in a duel, Mer'Karl served her for a year and a day as per Jinsai traditions. During his service, Mer'Karl came to deeply respect Moraine and felt that he had a life debt owed to her. At the end of his servitude, Mer'Karl refused to leave Moraine's service and instead became one of her close friends and confidants. After a time, Mer'Karl was considered an extension of the Sandoval and Strykia families.
Mer'Karl would flee Coyn with the Sandovals when they were rescued by friends of Graydon Strykia. Mer'Karl eventually helped Moraine set up another weapons shop on the shadowport of Eidolon Station. Even after the liberation of the Antrixian Commonwealth, Mer'Karl followed Moraine to her ancestral world of Landris where he continued to work as a bladesmith.

Story Factors:

Honor: To a Coynite, honor is life. The strict code of the Coynite law, the En'Tra'Sol, must always be followed. Any Coynite who fails to follow this law will be branded af'harl ("cowardly deceiver") and loses all rights in Coynite society. Other Coynites will feel obligated to maintain the honor of their species and will hunt down this Coynite. Because an af'harl has no standing, he may be murdered, enslaved or otherwise mistreated in any way that other Coynites see fit.
