I'm sitting around one day, working on some minor stuff for "Of Blood and Honor" when it occurs to me that there may be a mouse in the corner, looking at my stuff. This is more of a rant rather than a factual entry.
Star Wars: Rebels... Where to start with this? I know, I know... I've used some classic arch-types from Star Wars for the characters I've written. Still, the development and creation of these characters predates Rebels by a couple years. OBaH started here in 2011. Rebels premired 2014. So, did the Mouse House writers for the show come across some "friends" on the net and borrow some concepts?
Let's look at the details...
Hera/CJ Morgan - Both are pilots with ships they're quite proud of (Corellian Ships). They both …Read more >
So Disney pulled the rug out from under a lot of EU Star wars fans back when the Mouse House bought out Lucasfilm. With that being said, some were furious while others rolled with it. I, for one, am choosing to roll with it. Rogue One and Star Wars: Rebels have given a lot of old EU content back into the SW Universe, which is nice. It shows that there's a lot of wiggle room for Star Wars RPG still.
SO onto the title of this piece... Retconning is a bitch! Yes, there isn't that much, overall, to retconn on "Of Blood and Honor." But, when you couple the retconn with the fact that I'm essentially re-writing the whole story so it fits into the SW EU better, then you may see that it seems like a daunting task.
We'll never deny that we've ta…Read more >
As I write this, it's 14:05, Central Standard Time. In less than 36 hours, the newest installment of Star Wars will premier. It may determine how the Bloodlines story fits into my vision of the Star Wars Universe. Honestly, things have been on hold because of Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens. I have not written anything because I want to see where things go. With the EU being shelved by Disney, I'm very curious to see what's in store for the central story and how I can fit things in to it.
Is a huge retcon coming? I don't know. I doubt it. We'll just have to wait and see.
Until then: May the Force be with you.Read more >
So we were sitting around during a game session, chatting about scale differences and how it still wasn’t a perfect system. I mean, it works, but there are flaws in it.
A character versus another character… There is no scale difference. Hence, if the bounty hunter “Mo Munny” shoots at “Derk Starblaster”, Derk dodges at his normal skill level with no bonuses and Mo doesn’t receive a bonus to hit Derk. But if Mo is shoot with a weapon mounted on the back of a speeder, designed to combat other speeders, which is speeder-scale, Derk gets a +2D bonus to dodge the shot. If Mo’s lucky and hits Derk, well then, Mo gets to apply +2D to the damage of the weapon. We’re probably looking at around 6D to 7D damage. Derk’s probably toast.
The scale g…Read more >
We are currently working on adding the biggest list of alien species that one can add to a SW D6 site. Ok... I'm working on it. But Rikky is helping here and there. The goal is to have the largest repository of alien species with RPG stats on the web. That means there are some canon species that have never had stats published that are getting a treatment here. Basically, if it was in a book, I'm going to try and put it on the site. Right now, I'm focusing on the aliens that have either a photo or artwork to go with them, staying away from the dreaded "kiddy" species that were made for "Droids" and "Ewoks" cartoons. Maybe those will come later.
Also, I've listed a couple new things under the Force category: Force Forms. I think thes…Read more >
Just in case you're browsing through here and come across the mass of "Working" articles, fear not! We're working diligently, but slowly, to finish things up for some on the articles that need it.
The Antrixians and related articles are getting a once over, hopefully for the last time before I stamp them "official". Not to say that stats-wise, they aren't done.... I just want to get their story and everything to flow better. It's very choppy right now.Read more >
